The Ranch House Story
Some places are built
simply to house a restaurant.
Others begin with a vision.
The story of the extraordinary property now home to Ranch House Bar & Grill began with legendary restaurateur Don Callender, the man who transformed his mother Marie's home-baked pies into one of America's most recognizable restaurant brands.
Even after selling the Marie Callender's restaurant company, Callender never lost his passion for creating something new – which ultimately brought him to Highway 111 in Indio.
Here, Callender embarked on what would become his final restaurant project – an extraordinary, multimillion-dollar destination unlike anything else in the desert.
More than 23,000 square feet of restaurant and gathering spaces were created amid sprawling grounds, with intricate stonework, custom fireplaces, dramatic water features and richly landscaped outdoor spaces.
For years to follow, the remarkable property became a familiar Coachella Valley landmark, and now, a new chapter has begun – modernizing the space yet maintaining its rustic charm.
Ranch House Bar & Grill honors the character of this one-of-a-kind setting while bringing an entirely new restaurant and experience to the property – one built around great food, warm hospitality and the idea that a restaurant can be much more than a place to have a meal.
It can be a destination.
Nearly two decades after Don Callender set out to create something extraordinary on Highway 111, that spirit of imagination lives on at Ranch House Bar & Grill.
